looks like I’m nearly up to date, hoorahh!!
touch of thing’s to come, maybe! lets hope there’s no lambing storms on the way. this white stuff didn’t last long on the ground at the start of the month
had a bliddy nightmare on the landrover front… speedy decided to destroy its handbrake, firstly the shoes seized on … the vehicle was stuck and it seemed a lifetime before the AA turned up to pull a release cord!!!
anyway , after replacing the brakes at over 700 notes, the bliddy thing lasted 50 mile before it gave up the ghost again 😯
this time the diagnosis was a “snapped cable” from the actuator to the drums. … ok i said to the girls in the service department,… replace the handbrake unit, but I want the old one back…. 850 notes lighter. … I receive the landy back, along with the old unit…
take a good look at the picture. .. there’s no feckin snapped cable. ……😈😈😈😈😈 well can you imagine the fury of replacing a part that cost 530 quid plus vat, then by all appearances it looks perfect. 😈😈😈😈😈 i even took the lid off it to find it looking good inside as well, ,!!
needless to say, the battle started with landrover, which ended in me eating humble pie … and them apologising for giving out miss information.
the unit was fecked, but internally, and i found that out by getting it independently checked …. still, it pays to keep the garage on their toes 😁😁😁
seems the mole catching is still in demand, here’s the main man catching my neighbours mole, catcher 2 moles 0
so, after my run in with the dealership and the huge bill, I thought it was time to invest in my own specialist diagnostic equipment. this device lets you do just about anything with the landrover. it even reconfigured the ECU and you can chip it ,that’s “boost its performance” for those who don’t know what that means.
it works by plugging in to the OBD socket and connects to a tablet or smart phone via bluetooth, there’s a myriad of adjustments /calibration’s and diagnostics available. some of them even the dealership can’t access
it cost quite a few penny’s but, i figure it will save a few pounds in the long run;););) happy days.
that’s not the only thing to be uprated this month, managed to get a hold of a set of wheels… they started life as silver however, I’ve had them powder coated and a set of General Grabber off road tyres fitted….. may be just the ticket if we get the lambing storms.
needless to say, they wont be on the landy long, summer is on its way so the good road bias tyres will be back on shortly.
one of the things I purchased last year was a tractor mounted log splitter, my back isn’t as good as it was a few years ago. what a great piece of kit, this thing makes light work of the pile of beech logs I had delivered a year ago. mind you it was modified by yours truly, the guy that built it had overlooked a couple of weak points.
I also added a tow hitch to the frame, this way I can split logs and put them straight into the trailer … two birds… one stone as the saying goes
problems… problems… this old 1964 David Brown has probably worn these front tyres from new. its last trip out resulted in the perished rubber finally giving up the ghost. luckily a new set is around 50 quid, however … it means back to the old chopping axe for the time being… not so happy days
here’s a blast from the past, I was invited out to the Sage at Gateshead, the event was a mystery to me and wasn’t revealed until I sat down.
now, for the Scottish brethren especially those on the west coast … I was taken to see a Portree based band.. Runrig. I did enjoy the concert but just look at all the chromedomes in the audience.
looks like the fan base has stayed with them for the 42 years of existence
Tis the end of the month and good Friday was also my birthday. .. luckily I wasn’t forgotten about … many FB birthday greetings (over 100). .. two texts and two cards. .along with two personal happy birthday greetings and a lovely afternoon in Tynemouth where I had fish and chips to share with my new friend.😆😆😆😆😆
that’ll do for this month and a catch up is caught up…. woooo hoooo
