Holiday! what holiday…

Thats it,  the cloud factory has let me escape for wee spell. With a bit of luck we could even have a short break….not. It’s lookink like the little jobs are catching up with me, theres the log pile, the front door, the fire place, the road, the sheep, i could go on but…
As it happens, the first task is sort out the leaking front door

Since this was hung, the seal at the bottom of the door has been poor. So poor infact that the xl joinery rep came out for a site visit, only to say no to a replacement. Never buy any xl joinery gear, the door came to us in a warped state and as it was all we had, it was hung. Because it was hung they said it was incorectly installed and declined a replacement as the base of the door was wet.
The moisture meter says otherwise

Anyway, this time it’s off to rebate the bottom to accept a seal.

With my trusty router the task was complete after a mornings graft, the seal fitted to the thresh so that the door closes onto it and is completely hidden.

The back will look like a lime washed wall and should make the fire stand out from the background.

Other tasks included helping Mrs R set up a volunteer group for the protection of the red squirrels. Linked to http://www.rsne.org.uk the way it works is RSNE are the umberella group for vollunteer groups all around the north and can help with funding for control of the grey invader.

To do this of course, the fire had to be sparked into life so that the house is cosy for the wet day.

Of course, just typical, as soon as the fire gets up to temperature, the sky clears and the sun comes out!!!!!
