Wild things

Sunday  was a bit of a wildlife day. After an initial bout of the dreaded midge, a swarm you could eat I hasten to add! That had me covered up with a stalkers camouflage head veil and is nitrile gloves just to mix cement to finish off the small outside jobs on the offshot

I don’t know what it is about cement but it seems to to attract the midgie in vast numbers especially when you come to rub pointing off.
After lunch we took a stroll with paige and nan  the collie to raid the wild rhubarb that grows in an old sheep stell

These  ancient plants grow massive during the summer months and the seed heads can reach eight feet in height. The secret spot is around a mile away  from the house. If you zoom in you can see the republic on the hilltop.

On the way back down the well used badger track

I set my phone camera to take macro  shots  although  the breeze was a little  stiff  I still managed to grab  a few half decent  shots.

I think this is star of Bethlehem

And this is ladys finger

But this is the shining glory

Common orchid. And just to top it all out pops one of the escapes from the farm

Then it was back home, Blanche  the rhubarb for the freezer, varnish the new cills, then watch quantum of solace that was recorded from last monday
All in all a pleasantly relaxing Sunday.

Today and tomorrow are cloud factory days so hope to catch up soon.
